Valentine's Day is right around the corner! I designed this small sampler quilt to celebrate Valentines Day. Valentine's Day was always one of my favorite holidays growing up in Nebraska. For one thing I just love the pink and red colors, and it also helped brighten the long Nebraska winters. I remember sitting at the kitchen table making homemade Valentines. I especially remember trying to cut out hearts in the Honey comb tissue paper - love that stuff!!
I tried to capture a heart with a flower bouquet in the center. It reminds me of an old valentine postcard. One of my Grandmothers use to keep all of her postcards and kid's valentines - I loved looking at all of them!
I used Prismacolor Colored Pencils to color in my design, and then I used a simple Embroidery 'Backstitch' to go along the outline. I then brushed Fabric Medium over the top to make it permanent and machine washable. Below is the finished quilt.
